DTS, which can measure temperature distribution over a long distance, is optimal for measuring
the temperature distribution in down holes.
-
The optical fiber sensor cable, with a diameter of a few millimeters, is very light.
Even in wells of 1000m or more, the sensor cable can be easily raised and lowered with a simple device, extending the range
of coverage.
-
The loop measurement configuration is adopted in the system using an optical fiber sensor cable with two
fibers inside, where two fibers in the cable are looped at the far end of the sensor cable connected to a weight, to measure
the temperature distribution accurately over the whole length.
-
As for applications in the research field, DTS is well adapted for measuring the temperature distribution
of seismic observation down holes and the geothermal power generation down holes.
