DTS is applicable for leakage detection systems monitoring steam piping and high temperature fluid pipe
lines at high temperature plants.
-
By adopting a loop measurement configuration, the measurement continues automatically without interruption,
even if the fiber sensor cable breaks.
-
Variable alarm level settings, with the combination of fixed temperature and rate of temperature rise
is possible.
- System Configuration (example)
Lay the optical fiber sensor cable either inside or outside the heat insulation cover to measure the temperature
distribution.
If high temperature steam or gas leaks from the surface of a pipe or a vessel, it passes through the heat insulation material,
increasing the temperature of the cover to a certain point.
The DTS system can detect such a temperature variation at the area and judge as leakage based on the preset alarm level.
- Alarm output setting (example)
-
Alarm sensing can be set for up to 256 pre-defined zones, and those alarms can be arranged to output via
a prepared number of relay contacts, 24-relay-contact-case is shown in the system example figure, to the user´s supervisory
system.
-
Different overlapping settings, such as threshold value(°c) of fixed temperature and rate of temperature
rise (°c/minutes) can be made within the same zone.
-
Alarm detection of rate of temperature rise can minimize the error caused by ambient temperature variation
such as seasonal variation and sunlight.
-
(Addition of fixed-temperature detection) This method can reliably detect even very slow rises in temperature.
Fixed-temperature type
(1)
Maximum temperature > 80 °C in one zone: Turn on relays #2-#6 for zones (#1-#5)
(2)
Advanced warning settings, combining fixed-temperature and differential detection, can be set using the
internal program (no external PC required).
(3)
Maximum temperature in the entire length > 100 °C: Turn on relay #7
Maximum temperature in the entire length > 120 °C: Turn on relay #8
Differential detection
(4)
Temperature rising by > 15 °C/min. in one zone: Turn on relays #9-#13 for zones (#1-#5)
(5)
Maximum rate of temperature rise in the entire length > 30 °C/min.: Turn on relay #14
